Mi-26 helicopter crew of PANH Helicopters carried out unique operation on oversize cargo transportation. The fuselage of Mi-26 helicopter was transported on the external sling from Moscow to Krasnodar 25.11.13 Mi-26 helicopter crew of PANH Helicopters carried out unique operation on oversize cargo transportation. The fuselage of Mi-26 helicopter was transported on the external sling from Moscow to Krasnodar In total the helicopter pair covered distance about 1500 km, spending 13 hours in the sky and stopping over for refueling and crew rest. The weather failed several times, but nothing could preclude from performing this operation with an excellent mark.
On November 08, 2013 the helicopter was ready for dispatch, and the crew of Mi-26 RA-06087 proceeded to transportation. Flight was carried out with approximate speed of 120-130 km/h, and sometimes at tailwind the speed worked up to 180 km/h that allowed cutting stopovers. On November 16, 2013 the cargo was safely delivered.
This type of helicopter operations can be considered as truly unique. Fuselage without units as cargo has low specific gravity that requires special flight technique. Besides, performance of such type of operations would be impossible without well-coordinated and highly proficient work of crew and ground services. PANH Helicopters heavy Mi-26 is operated during Olympics final construction stages in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia 22.08.13 PANH Helicopters heavy Mi-26 is operated during Olympics final construction stages in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia Preparations for the main event of 2014, Sochi Winter Olympics are heading into the homestretch. PANH Helicopters aircraft are deeply involved in construction of Olympic venues in hard-to-reach mountainous areas, which makes this kind of construction works seem impossible to complete without using helicopters. Last week Mi-26 heavy helicopter was operated for lifting and delivery of cargo and equipment of 9-13 tons to remote area of 2300 meter terrain elevation.
Aerial works were completed in duly accordance with customers requirements and safety regulations. As feedback says, owing to professional and skilled work done by PANH Helicopters flight crews, preparation for the Olympics will be finished in time.
New challenges are coming soon one of them is transportation of power converters and generators to provide no-break power supply at Sochi Olympics sports facilities.
